2020 Chehalem Mountain Pinot Noir
2020 Chehalem Mountain Pinot Noir
THE VINTAGE
The 2020 growing season that was moderate, and small with tiny flavorful clusters. It was ultimately marked by the fires that started in early September just as the growing season was wrapping up. We decided to let the fruit continue to hang and ripen as needed and picked in late September. We only made a third of the barrels of a typical year - mostly from fruit grown on our Estate vineyard and other sites that were spared the worst of the exposure to smoke. Even so, we were unsure of how the limited wines that we produced would age, and it's been encouraging to see that the wines have softened and the fruit has integrated beautifully - just as a well made pinot noir does on a "typical" vintage.

THE VINEYARD
Located on Caulkins Road in the foothills of the Chehalem Mountains AVA, the Mallaris vineyard features Wilakenzie Sedimentary Soils and beautiful exposure. This is a wine that was never released in to the wine club, and is exciting to share in the tasting room starting in 2024.
