2023 Estate Pinot Noir
Our flagship Pinot Noir captures the essence of our estate at the top of Ribbon Ridge, blending Pommard, Dijon 115, and Dijon 777 clones. Aromas of ripe cherry, wild strawberry, and black tea mingle with hints of rose petal and cedar. The palate is vibrant yet layered, balancing juicy black fruits with savory spice and fine-grained tannins. A long, mineral-driven finish reflects the character of the site. Irresistible now, but best enjoyed 2026–2033 for peak complexity.
THE VINTAGE
The 2023 vintage on the top of Ribbon Ridge delivered wines with both charm and precision, shaped by a season that started slow but finished with a rush of sunshine. A cool, late spring pushed budbreak into May, keeping growers on edge, but summer arrived warm and dry, quickly making up for lost time. By early fall, the well-drained marine sediment soils at the ridge’s peak helped vines shrug off the heat, preserving freshness and aromatic lift even as flavors deepened. Pinot Noirs from these heights show vibrant red fruit, floral lift, and fine, silky tannins, while Chardonnays carry bright citrus and stone fruit with a streak of minerality. Yields were modest, but quality was high — producing graceful, mid-weight wines that are irresistible young yet built to quietly impress for years to come.
