2022 Hyland Estate Coury Clone, Pinot Noir

2022 Hyland Coury Clone/ Pinot Noir

The Hyland Coury Clone is consistently a favorite bottling of ours with its distinctive herbal nose that evolves into floral aromatics. The 2022 Hyland Estate Coury Clone Pinot Noir, sourced from historic vines planted in 1973 in the McMinnville AVA, offers a more introspective profile.  Sourced from one of the oldest blocks of vines in the Willamette Valley,  the old-world clone make for a beautifully structured wine that is enjoyable now but designed to cellar well.

This is a spice driven (versus fruit driven) wine that evolves beautifully in the glass. It starts off as savory on the nose and palate but give it a moment and you will see woodsy notes and a beautiful floral finish. It is this dynamic, evolving wine that continually brings us back to analyze and savor. These beloved old vines yield a wine of layered nuance: cranberry, black tea, lavender, and a distinct volcanic minerality unfold slowly.

The palate balances vibrant red fruit with savory spice and fine-grained structure, finishing with elegance and quiet persistence. It is a soulful tribute to one of the valley’s most cherished vineyards — and with a heavy heart, we share that 2022 marks our final vintage sourcing fruit beyond our own estate. This wine stands as both celebration and farewell.

2022 Reserve Pinot Noir

The 2022 Reserve Pinot Noir is our barrel selection of the vintage — a focused blend highlighting predominantly Pommard Clone (70%) with 30% Dijon 115 from our estate vineyards on Ribbon Ridge AVA. Aged in 50% new French oak, this Reserve is intentionally built to be bolder and more structured. Aromas of black cherry, boysenberry, and violet are layered with subtle cedar.

On the palate, the Pommard core delivers dark fruit concentration and depth, while Dijon 115 lends lift and fine aromatic detail. Silky yet firm tannins frame notes of plum, blackberry, and forest floor, carrying into a long, savory finish marked by clove and a faint mineral edge from Ribbon Ridge’s marine sedimentary soils.

This is a wine of power and composure — structured for longevity, yet beautifully balanced.
